Lilith Iyapo lived through the war, only to awaken in a featureless room. Dawn is the first book in a trilogy originally entitled Xenogenesis but changed (and weakened, in my view) to Lilith's Brood. I am reading the Xenogenesis series and I loved the first book (Dawn) and its examination of humanity and different cultures and how "saving" the human race has many drawbacks.
